Licensed Esthetician
Ginger Yancey
Holistic Skin Therapy
My experience with
natural skin care began 12 years ago while working in the natural
health industry. Attending numerous trainings over the years from
various manufacturers of natural skin care lines, I received a
varied and rich education in product ingredients and application. I
was a buyer and seller of natural skin care products while working
in health food stores in Florida and North Carolina.
I found there is a
great need for education around personal care products. The industry
is widely unregulated. This lead me on a journey to go
to school and obtain my esthetics license. This
gave me license to touch and further educate the public and advise
about specific skin conditions.
My first location
was at the Essential
Wellness Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. It was an
excellent opportunity to work with other professionals
offering acupuncture,
massage and cranial sacral therapy.
I am now in
a studio in Chapel Hill.
The studio is surrounded by a flower garden and various plants used
in the therapies. I provide organic
facials, foot reflexology, waxing care, and organic mineral makeup
application. Eminence, a completely organic, handmade skin
care line from Hungary, is available for purchase and used in all
facials. I use a premium quality wax and all natural pre and post
waxing products.
The incorporation
of the latest technologies in LED light therapy and ultrasonic wave
treatments has provided my clients with real results with
non-invasive and affordable options. I am always amazed at the
positive changes I witness in the skin. What an amazing organ that
responds beautifully to plant based antioxidants and light
therapies.
I love handling
these beautiful smelling products, performing luxurious therapies,
and counseling clients on their skin care needs.
Holistic Personal
Chef Experience
Although I am no longer cooking
professionally I would like to
include my past journey as a holistic personal chef. Cooking is a creative outlet for me
and something I still thoroughly enjoy doing at home. I
have found that the most nutritious foods can be the most delicious
foods.
I have worked closely over the years
with nutritionists, holistic MDs, acupuncturists, herbalists, and
body workers. I have taken classes in Nutrition and Medical
Terminology in college, attended countless seminars,
classes and symposiums on natural health. I have taught educational
cooking classes , did a cooking show on a
Raleigh TV station, and assisted at a macrobiotic cooking school in
Orlando, FL.
I began a holistic personal
chef service, Living With Health In Mind, in February of 2001. This business, filling the needs of many, took off quickly and kept me very busy.
My own adventures in a personal search
for dietary wellness have taken me through various cooking styles:
vegetarianism, vegan, sprouting/raw foods, juicing/fasting,
macrobiotics, low-carb meals, blood type menus, acid/alkaline
balancing, food allergy cooking, and studying research by Weston A.
Price (Nourishing Traditions). I have come full circle with the
stance of a whole foods approach to meal planning that includes a wide
variety of foods. I believe balance is key. I am passionate
about our abilities to take control of our own health through lifelong
dietary and lifestyle changes. There are many excellent
physicians/practitioners in this area that can assist us with this.
May we eat well and be well!!
**Update: I am
currently studying research on consuming living foods. So much as
been proven/discovered since I first experimented with it 12 years
ago! I am finding that a diet high in raw greens and veggies,
sprouts and nuts is very revitalizing and energizing. Check out Dr.
